Our Church Government
Our congregation is represented by elders who form a Session to govern our church.
Next, local churches form a Presbytery which consists of the ordained ministers and the elders elected to represent the session of the churches within a prescribed area.
Presbyteries then form a Synod which consists of at least three presbyteries in a prescribed area and the ministers and the elder representatives from the churches within those presbyteries.
Finally, the Synods form the General Assembly, which is the highest judicatory of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and represents, in one body, all the particular churches thereof. It bears the title of the General Assembly of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church/Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America and constitutes the bond of union, peace, correspondence and mutual confidence among all its churches and judicatories.
